MAC Lipstick Collection | MAC Lipstick Collection

I was never the biggest fan of lipsticks until around 2 years ago. They just never seemed to appeal to me and you wouldn’t see me perusing the makeup aisles looking for that perfect my-lips-but-better lipstick shade. I was more into lip glosses but found that I was having the hardest time trying to find one that had good pigmentation, wasn’t too sticky but just sticky enough that it would still last a while on the lips. One day I took a trip to the MAC store and had a look over all of their shades and finally caved and bought the shade Creme Cup. That day was the day my lipstick obsession was born. Now I don’t have a very large MAC lipstick collection but that is due to me making sure that the shades I do buy are ones that I am going to wear and love for a long time to come.

Hue is a shade that I am sure most of you are familiar with. I don’t reach for this shade as much as some others in my collection, but when I want that very nude lip look then I always grab for this. It works great as a base for other lipsticks or lip glosses as well, and is good to even lighten up a lip colour.

Creme Cup is the most perfect shade of pink I think I have ever found. It goes with almost any makeup look and is my fail safe lipstick pick. If you are new to MAC lipsticks, I highly recommend starting with this one.

Peach Blossom is just as it sounds. It’s a really lovely nude peach shade that is much more on the wearable side than Hue. This too is one of those shades that can be paired with many makeup looks and doesn’t look too nude.

Syrup is a bloggers favourite, and after seeing tons of reviews I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this shade. It gives your lips that lovely tint of plum while still being sheer and is one of those my lips only better shades.

Plumful is a bit darker than Syrup and has more of a pink base to it. This has quickly become one of my favourite lipsticks since it is so appropriate for the Winter months! It’s finish makes your lips look very glossy and full and I love it.

Rebel‘s deep purple hue has become a hit in the past few years. It’s a go-to staple for the Fall and Winter for those who enjoy vampier shades and looks great on it’s own or paired with a darker lip liner for that ombre effect.

Fashion Revival is a dark raspberry shade with a hint of purple. It can lean more purple or red depending on your skin tone and it’s matte finish gives that effortlessly chic vibe to it.

So that is my MAC lipstick collection and I hope some of you maybe found this helpful if you’re looking for new shades to try, or if it’s your first time purchasing a lip colour from MAC. I am always on the lookout for new shades to add to my stash so please let me know your recommendations on which lipstick I should try next!

    MAC Blush Collection

    MAC Blush Collection

My first introduction to MAC, and makeup in general, was when I was around 8 or 9 and my cousins used to put makeup on me for fun when I would visit. They’d go all out and it was truly a sight to see – I wish I had pictures. I remember them dipping their brush into MAC blushes and eyeshadows and it was always such a fun time that I’ll never forget.

When I first started experimenting with more higher end products, MAC was the first store that I went to. Since then, I now have an unhealthy obsession with their lipsticks and always enjoy adding new products to my collection. Now while I don’t have the largest MAC blush stash, I thought I’d share the ones that I do have as they are truly beautiful.

Pink Swoon is a great option for my pale girls out there, as it’s a very cool-toned baby pink shade. This was the first MAC blush I purchased and I still love it, especially during the Spring. It’s a sheertone formula so it blends out very easily onto the cheeks but can be built up with multiple layers.

Speaking of shades that are perfect for Spring, What I Fancy is one of my top picks. It came out with their Flamingo Park collection last year, and it’s a bright peachy pink blush that really livens up the face. It is a satin finish and too can be worn sheer, or built up for more colour.

Next is Ripe For Love, which is a beautiful coral shade with a hint of peach. This blush takes a bit of building up to get true colour pay off, but I am a fan of more sheer blushes on me personally. I find some coral blushes can be a bit harsh against my fair skin, especially if they lean way into the warm/orange spectrum, but this one still works nicely. This is also a satin blush, but it does have the tiniest amount of golden shimmers throughout.

When I think of MAC blushes, I instantly think of their mineralize line. The gorgeous marbled pattern and stunning sheen that they give to the cheeks is undeniably beautiful. Dainty is a shade that you need to have in your collection as it’s such a flattering shade of pink. It does have some gold shimmer in it which I think adds that little bit of something extra to the cheeks.

Lastly, Gentle is another mineralize blush and is a medium rosy pink. I think you can tell by now that I love my pink and peach blushes. This too has some golden shimmer throughout, but I find that it blends away when applying it to the cheeks and only leaves that beautiful sheen behind. I find that MAC’s mineralizes blushes look the most natural on the skin which I love.

    MAC Blush Collection Swatches

I am really wanting to expand my blush collection and currently have Margin, Harmony, Peachtwist and Love Joy on my wishlist. It’s safe to say that MAC is one of my favourite makeup brands and never disappoints!

    MAC Eyeshadow Haul

    MAC Eyeshadow Haul |

When someone asks me what my favourite makeup brand is, MAC is one of the first to pop into my head. They are one of those tried and true brands that just never seem to disappoint. I have tried quite the selection of MAC products from lipsticks to blushes and brushes and decided it was time to expand my small MAC eyeshadow collection.

I wanted to build up a selection of neutral everyday shades before dabbling into bolder or out there shades, so if you are a fan of neutral eyeshadows then you’ll definitely want to look into these shades. There is a mixture of warm and cool toned shadows but they mostly lean into the cool spectrum which suits my fairer complexion.

    • Honey Lust – peachy bronze
    • Naked Lunch – peach beige
    • Soft Brown – beige brown
    • Wedge – beige taupe
    • Espresso – grey brown
    • Sable – bronzy plum
    • Haux – plum brown
    • Satin Taupe – silver taupe
    • Tempting – chocolate bronze

I am extremely happy with the shades that I picked up – don’t they look so beautiful together? Since my Z-palettes are currently filled up and only having a MAC 4 pan palette, I decided to pick up the 15 pan pro palette plus the insert to house all of my new and existing MAC eyeshadows in. It’s extremely convenient as I won’t have a bunch of single eyeshadows rolling around in my vanity and I can see exactly what colour I’m looking for through the clear lid. I can’t wait to pick up some more shades!

Have you tried MAC eyeshadows? What are your favourites?

MAC Brave: A Pale Girls Best Friend

Looking for a perfect nude lipstick for pale skin? MAC Brave is worth checking out!

I recently went to MAC and picked up a few new lipsticks (haul post here), Brave being one of them. I knew I wanted some new shades for Spring, and started by swatching some cult favourites such as Twig and Velvet Teddy. Both were beautiful shades, but I ended up picking up Brave which leans more pink than brown and is better suited to my very fair, cool-toned skin. If you are a pale girl looking for an everyday lipstick that will liven up your complexion, then this shade is for you.

Brave is a beautiful deep pink-beige shade with a satin finish. I find that it comes off much darker in the tube than it does when applied to the lips. I prefer MAC’s satin lipsticks as they aren’t too creamy where they disappear off your lips in a few hours, and they aren’t drying like a matte finish. I have darker lips naturally and this shade is a very close match, just a bit deeper. The formula glides easily over the lips, doesn’t overly emphasise any dry spots on my lips and it has a beautiful shine to it.

I’m sure you’re not surprised to hear me say that it’s my new go-to my lips but better colour and it compliments so many different makeup looks. Whether you are wearing a smokey eye, or are keeping it simple with just some winged liner, this shade pairs perfectly. It really livens up my face giving me a fresh appearance and I’ve had a few lovely people comment on what a beautiful colour it is. I am so happy to have this shade in my MAC collection and it’s safe to say I am head over heads for it.

    New MAC Bits

MAC Brave, Hot Gossip, Please Me Lipstick

MAC Brave, Hot Gossip, Please Me Lipstick

You know when you walk into MAC and your eyes are instantly drawn to their seemingly endless line-up of lipsticks, all sitting pretty in their display? Maybe you even hear the faint sound of the makeup gods singing? Okay, that may be going a little too far but when walking past the MAC display at The Bay I couldn’t help but have a little swatch fest. MAC lipsticks are one of my biggest beauty weaknesses because you can really never go wrong and they’re just so pretty!

I knew that I wanted to pick up some new shades for Spring coming up and the first one I grabbed is a favourite of many beauty bloggers. Brave is a dark pink-beige with a satin finish and will be one of those lip colours that will pair well with everything. Hot Gossip is a pinky-plum shade that has a beautiful shiny finish and will also pair beautifully with so many different makeup looks. Please Me is a bright rosy-pink with a matte finish and will be my go-to bold lip for Spring. Even though it is a matte, it has a very creamy formula that is easy to apply.

The last item I picked up is a blush called What I Fancy from the Flamingo Park collection. It’s a very bright apricot with a bit of pink thrown in there as well. This blush will really pop against my very fair skin and will really liven up my face – a definite go-to blush this Spring. My fiancé said that I absolutely had to pick this up because of how beautiful it was, how could I argue with that?

    Melt-Proof Makeup Products

    Melt Proof Makeup |

As much as I love the hot weather, it sadly comes with a few downsides. Hanging out at a theme park, hosting an awesome backyard bash or spending all day at an outdoor festival is great fun, but not when your makeup starts to break up and melt away before your eyes. Getting your makeup to stay put during hot summer days can be a real chore, but I have a few favourite products that I found help prevent any makeup meltdowns.

The Estee Edit Pore Vanishing Stick

If you have areas on your face that you are wanting to smooth or have pores that you want to fill in, the Pore Vanishing Stick is a fantastic option. A few swipes of this over your problem area and this product goes right to work on mattifying and smoothing it out. Not only that, but any product you put on top of this stays put and doesn’t budge. I received a sample size of this and I am all set to purchase the full size when this runs out – it’s amazing!

    MAC Prolongwear Concealer

I have expressed my love for the MAC Prolongwear Concealer too many times to count and have recommended it so many people who are looking for a concealer that will stay put. The formula is high coverage, waterproof, works great for the undereye area and doesn’t settle into any fine lines. You can wear this on a hot summer day and not worry about it sweating off!

    Guerlain Maxi Lash Mascara Waterproof

I raved about this Guerlain mascara back in April (review), and I am still head over heels in love. This volumizing, lengthening and curling mascara is what dreams are made of, and the fact that it’s waterproof makes me love it that much more. Long gone are the days are mascara flakes and smudging throughout the day, and instead, a long-wearing ultra-black mascara that delivers on all it’s promises!

    NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams

If you are looking for an affordable drugstore/high street lipstick that will stay put on your lips for hours, then the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams are ones to look into. These lip creams have a lovely mousse texture to them that glides over the lips easily and gives a soft matte finish. They are also quite comfortable to wear, so if you’re a lover of the matte lipstick trend like I am, then these are a must.

Urban Decay All Night Setting Spray

I’m sure your not surprised to see this on the list, are you? When I want my makeup to stay put throughout the day or night, this is my go to. It locks all of your liquid, cream or powder products in place and keeps them from fading or melting off. Urban Decay also has a few different kinds of sprays that are worth checking out as well!

    The Blush Tag

    The Blush Tag |

Blush is a step that I never miss in my beauty routine as I find it makes the biggest difference to my overall look. Having such a fair complexion, blush really livens up my face and keeps me from looking gaunt and tired. I saw this post pop up on Laura’s blog and thought I would join in and share some of my favourite blushes with you.

What blush colour suits you the most?

My collection mostly consists of a variety of pink, peach and coral blushes. I swear all of them are slightly different from each other, hence why I need them all. *wink* I find that pinks and peaches really suit my fair, cool toned complexion the best but that doesn’t stop me from stepping outside the box.

    Pressed, cream, or loose blush?

I prefer pressed blushes as they are the easiest to work with and come in such a wide array of shades. However, I love cream blushes as they give such a beautiful glow to the skin and are perfect for those like myself who have a dry skin type.

    Favourite shimmery blush?

I don’t use shimmery blushes often as I prefer to use highlighter instead, but if I am going for a quick and easy makeup look that keeps the number of products to a minimum, I’ll reach for the NYX Baked Blushes. You get the pop of colour of a blush, and the glow of a highlighter all in one product. Plus the packaging is too cute to handle!

    Favourite matte blush?

I have so many matte blushes that I love, so it’s very hard to narrow it down to just one. I have raved about the Bobbi Brown Blush in Apricot a few times on my blog and it still is my all time favourite. Everything from the colour, texture and formula is so luxurious that I can’t get enough. However, I have to give mention to MAC’s blush in Pink Swoon because even though I don’t use it as much as I once did, it’s the most perfect matte pink I have in my collection.

    Favourite cream blush?

Hands down my favourite cream blushes are by Bobbi Brown. Their Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks in Fresh Melon looks just as the name suggests – a fresh pinky-peach melon shade that is the perfect pick me up colour for the face. It’s beautifully pigmented, blends like an absolute dream and melts into your skin making it look like you’re naturally flushed. I need to pick up more shades!

    Favourite high-end blush?

Aside from Bobbi Brown, I truly adore my small collection of MAC blushes. They truly have every shade and finish under the sun and I reach for them often. I love heading to the MAC store and browsing through their gorgeous selection of products and often find myself leaving with a blush and a lipstick or two. Recently I forayed into the world of Lancome and picked up one of their Cushion Blush Subtil in the shade Splash Coral and I have to say I am really impressed – review on that coming soon!

    Favourite bright blush?

When I read this question I had a blush that instantly came to mind and it’s the NYX Ombre Blush in Sweet Spring. Appropriate name for this time of year, is it not? The bright barbie pink shade fades into a beautiful dark pink that reminds me of a stunning sunset. You can use the colours separately or swirl them together for a brighter pop of colour. I need to pick up the other shades from their ombre line!

So that is the Blush Tag! I had a lot of fun writing this out and I hope you lovelies enjoyed it. I’d love to know what your favourite blushes are and I tag all of you to participate in this as well. Be sure to tweet me a link to your post on Twitter so I can check them out, or let me know in the comments below! x
