Fall Lipstick Edit

Fall 2014 Lipstick Picks

Maybelline Matte Color Sensational Lipstick in Mesmerizing Magenta

This shade is a new purchase for me and I have already fallen head over heels for it. It is a blue based magenta shade that is an absolute stunner. The matte finish formula feels comfortable on the lips, doesn’t settle into any lip lines and lasts ages even through eating and drinking. For $8.99 I think I have found my new favourite lipstick line from the drugstore and can’t wait to try more.

YSL Volupte Sheer Candy in #5 Mouthwatering Berry

There is no denying that YSL is just the epitome of luxury. Everything from it’s gorgeous packaging to it’s stunning colour selection is swoon worthy. I purchased this lipstick last year when I was on the hunt for the perfect Fall lipstick and I couldn’t wait to pull it out again this year. This gorgeous berry shade has a glossy, balm like finish that it perfect for those who are looking for a nice wash of colour (full review here).

MAC Matte Lipstick in Fashion Revival

When taking a quick peek through the lipsticks at the MAC store, my eyes instantly were drawn to this shade. It doesn’t look like much at first glance, but when applied it turns into this gorgeous dark berry colour (do you see a theme here?) that I can’t help but love. The longevity is fantastic, the colour is phenomenal and it doesn’t feel drying on the lips. I have to say, I am really liking matte lipsticks at the moment!

MAC Satin Lipstick in Rebel

I bet you aren’t surprised to see this on my list, am I right? This is one of MAC’s staple shades for Fall and for good reason (full review here). While this may look scary in the tube, much like the other shades above, when you apply it to your lips it turns into this stunning dark berry shade and the hint of fuschia gives it lots of dimension. It is much more wearable than I thought it was going to be at first glance and I always get compliments every time I wear this out!

If you are wanting to rock a bolder lip this season then I highly suggest going for it! A few years ago I was strictly a lip gloss kind of girl and when I first started getting into lipsticks it never occurred to me that I would love darker shades as much as I do. Makeup is all about experimentation, and you never know how much you may love something until you try it!

The Autumn Tag

The Autumn Tag 2014

This tag was created by the lovely Georgina over at Makeup-Pixi3 and I thought it would be fun to do as I did her tag last year. If you would like to do this as well be sure to tweet it to me as I would love to read it! Let’s get into the questions!

1.  Ok we’re talking coffee’s – what’s your favourite seasonal drink from Starbucks/Costa/Cafe Nero etc?
I am sure that you won’t be surprised by my answer but I really love the Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks. I have tried some PSL’s from other coffee places and Starbucks is by far the best. Their Salted Caramel Mocha isn’t too bad either!

2.  Accessories – what do you opt for, scarf, boots, gloves?
I am all about the boots! Going boot shopping is probably the highlight of the Autumn season for me because there are so many cute styles. I really love scarves as well though, and have already picked up a few now that the weather has gotten considerably colder.

3.  Music – what’s your favourite music to listen to during Autumn?
My music taste doesn’t change with the seasons really so I listen to my usual jam.  I am really loving Lorde and Iggy at the moment.

4.  Perfume – what’s your favourite scent for this time of year?
My go to scent all year round would have to be the Chloe perfume. I don’t really purchase warmer scents and to be honest I don’t really know why as I really enjoy them. When I find a scent I really love I tend to just stick to it, but I find that Chloe works in any season as it’s very fresh and feminine.

5.  Candles – what scents will you be burning this season?
I love going to Bath and Body Works this time of year as I find I love their Autumn scents the best. Their Leaves candle is hands down my favourite scent for Autumn, but I have been burning the Pumpkin Pecan Waffles candle for the past few weeks and I just can’t get enough of it. Anything really warm and rich smelling is what I typically like to go for when the weather gets colder.

6.  What do you love most about Autumn?
There’s quite a few things that I like about Autumn. I love when the leaves start to change colour because the trees look absolutely alight from the red, yellow and orange hues. The crisp leaves under my feet when walking to get a hot drink on a cold day. Snuggling up on the couch with a blanket, book and a cup of hot chocolate. And of course, Halloween which is probably my favourite holiday!

7.  Favourite makeup look?
Toned down eyes and a bold lip, definitely. Keeping the eyes simple and wearing a darker lip makes you look instantly put together and is practically effortless. Just use a wash of bronze shadow over the lid, apply a few layers of mascara and a deep berry lip and you are set.

8.  What are you looking forward to most in Autumn?
What I am looking forward to is going to this beautiful park just a short drive away and taking some amazing shots of the trees changing colour. It really is a breathtaking sight. I also can’t wait to spend some time with my family this weekend for Thanksgiving and eating some phenomenal food.

Being Positive

How To Be A Positive Person

Now I will come out and say that I have never found being positive a very easy thing to accomplish, and to this day I still find it to be difficult. Everyone has their struggles through out their life, and I truly believe how you respond to those situations can make all the difference. Over the years I have learned to “pick my battles” and have gotten better at knowing when to brush things off. I used to find that little, insignificant things would really affect my mood and I would find myself just being negative towards life and I hated feeling that way. I vowed to myself to work towards becoming a positive person and it has been a journey for sure.

I wanted to share some tips that can help you on your way towards a more positive and happier life. Everyone has to start somewhere, and becoming positive is something that you have to work towards. Just start by incorporating some of these things into your daily life and you’ll notice the difference, trust me. Give it a try!

Remind yourself to be positive every day.

Fake it until you make it. Believe me, it works.

Focus on the good, and be happy and grateful for the little things.

Doing things that you love can really help boost your mood.

Surround yourself with positive people. Positivity is contagious!

Know when to take things seriously, and also when not to.

Encourage and uplift others as well as yourself!

Make the best you can out of every situation, no matter how hard it is.

Worrying doesn’t change the outcome of a situation. So don’t dwell!

Find inspiration! I love to use Pinterest for this because there are so many positive and inspiring photos.

I know that this is a different post than I usually do, but I truly hope it will help some of you out there that are wanting to get into a more positive mindset. Take each day at a time and just remember that life is what you make of it. Being positive and optimistic will open up so many opportunities in your life if you let it!Tips On How To Be Positive
