Writing Process Blog Tour

Recently I was nominated by the lovely Alixandria over at Forever Alixandria to do the Writing Process Blog Tour. She is a new blogger that has an amazing writing style and takes such gorgeous photos as well. Definitely check out this lovely girl if you haven’t already!

1) What am I working on?

As you already know I have a huge love for makeup and I find myself always having multiple blog posts on the go. I love testing out new beauty products and sharing my thoughts with my readers, and if I am not testing I am probably researching and learning about other new and exciting products. I also am planning on going to school in the near future, which to be honest is exciting and nerve-racking all at the same time, but I really think it’ll open up many opportunities for me and I can’t wait!

2) How does my work differ from others of it’s genre?

It doesn’t differ in the way that it’s a beauty blog because there are many wonderful beauty blogs out there, but I like to think I have my own style of writing that’s unique to me. I was never the most confident writer, so when I started blogging I wrote like how I would speak to a friend. I could talk about makeup all day every day, and while I like to show my enthusiasm about products I have been loving, I also like really getting the down to the facts about products so that I can help readers make education decisions about the products they are thinking about buying.

3) Why do I write what I do?

My blog has always been a creative outlet for me. It started with just me posting the makeup looks that I was creating, and then branched into products reviews and it has just been something that I have been able to work on and watch grow over the years. I am extremely proud of my little space on the internet and wouldn’t change a thing. Blogging has become my hobby, my passion and it makes me extremely happy every single day.

4) How does your writing process work?

I have a notebook that I like to jot blog post ideas down that I carry with me pretty much everywhere. I tend to have my best ideas when I am laying down for bed for the night or when I am out and about somewhere (isn’t that always the way?) and I always make sure I write down my ideas so I don’t forget them. I like to post every other day, so I have a daily planner that I use and I write down which post I would like to post on certain dates. Product photography is probably my favourite part of blogging, so I usually always start with taking my photos first and then use my photo to inspire my writing.

For next weeks Writing Process Blog Tour I would like to nominate:

Rikki from Rikki Poynter Makeup. Rikki does amazing and inspiring makeup tutorials on Youtube, and also has a blog as well where she shares her thoughts on products and does some fun tags as well. Love this girl!

Celina from The Celution. I adore this girls blog and she has such a lovely way of writing that it’s easy to get caught up in her posts. She also has this amazing directory for Canadians like myself to find certain brands that can be somewhat hard to find which is hugely helpful!

Jordan from Boho Vanity. I have been a follower of her blog for quite a while and am a huge fan of her beauty reviews. They are quick, to the point and I love that. She also posts these amazing inspirational posts from time to time that include lovely quotes and I find that really sets her apart from other bloggers I read. She also takes fantastic photos that are so beautiful!

Thank you again Alixandria for nominating me to do this post. While I do mainly focus on product reviews I like to switch it up and share some other posts as well so that you can get to know the girl behind the blog and I hope you enjoyed reading this!

Have a lovely week!

Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Palette

Recently Coastal Scents came out with their Revealed 2 palette and as soon as I saw it I knew I had to get my hands on it. I headed over to the website and found that they had it on sale for only $9.95. 20 gorgeous eyeshadows for under $10, how can you say no to that? So I put it in my cart, checked out and waited (impatiently) for it to arrive. Youtubers and bloggers have been comparing this to the Naked 3 palette by Urban Decay, but I do not own that palette so I won’t be doing a comparison review. It seems like tons of companies are coming out with their own version of a neutral/naked palette so I thought I would finally try one out for myself and this one seemed like a good one to try!

The palette is made of cardboard and has a very slim and compact design. It also has a magnetic closure which keeps the lid from flapping all over the place. I am not a real fan of cardboard packaging as I find it isn’t as resilient, but for the price I can’t complain. When you open up the palette you are greeted by 20 gorgeous eyeshadows which are a mixture of matte and shimmer finishes. I have never really experimented much with pink toned eyeshadows, as most of these seem to be, so I was curious to see how I would get along with them. Luckily I am really enjoying them and find that they are much easier to pull off than I initially expected, especially since they are more neutral.

I am really impressed with the pigmentation of these shadows, however I did find that the lightest matte shades and the darkest purple shade with red glitter tended to be a bit chalky. Even though they were a bit powdery they weren’t necessarily hard to work with. The colour selection is quite nice but I do find some of the shades to be slightly similar when swatched as you will see. I have been reaching for this palette very regularly when doing my makeup in the morning but I do wish that there had of been a medium brown that could have been used for blending or as a transition colour. There is however a darker brown that when used with a light hand seems to work just fine. The size of the eyeshadow pans are also pretty good and I really feel like you are getting your moneys worth.

I have been loving creating different looks with this palette and can’t recommend it enough. If you’re interested in picking up the Revealed 2 for yourself you can check it out on the Coastal Scents website here. They also have a sale on the original Revealed Palette at the moment for only $11.95 which is an amazing deal! I may have to pick that one up as well!

What are your thoughts on the neutral palette craze? Love it or hate it?

Lipstick Love Tag

Recently I was tagged to do the Lipstick Love by the lovely Chelle who blogs over at Makeup Your Mind! I thought it would be something really fun to do and thank you so much Chelle for tagging me! Let’s jump right into the tag!

How many lipsticks do you own?

I only started getting into lipsticks not too long ago. I was very much a lip gloss person but I finally started delving into the world of lipsticks and now I love them. I have lipsticks, glosses and other assorted lip products scattered around my house, but from the lipsticks I could find (easily) I have 72. I’m scared to know how many I have laying around that I wasn’t able to count, haha!

What was your first ever lipstick?

I’m not sure if this was my first ever lipstick but this is the one that comes to mind when I started getting really into them. I believe it was Airy Fairy by Rimmel. I had saw it on Dulce Candy’s Youtube channel and I thought it was such a pretty colour. It was a pinky nude (surprise, surprise!).

What is your favourite brand of lipstick?

My favourite brand of lipstick I’d have to say is MAC. I love how they have so many different finishes, formulas and that huge selection of colours to die for. I’ve never purchased a lipstick from MAC that I didn’t love.

What is your most worn lipstick?

I’d have to go with Creme Cup. It was the first lipstick I ever purchased from MAC and it’s a gorgeous light pink shade that goes with pretty much any makeup look. It’s a cremesheen finish so it’s very creamy and feels like heaven on the lips.

What is your favourite finish?

I have always been one for very opaque, creamy finishes. I have quite dry lips so I like to have a lipstick that will give some hydration while still packing a punch in terms of colour. A good example of this would be Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencils. They are amazing!

How many lipsticks do you currently have in your handbag? (including balms and glosses)

I have 7 lip products in my handbag at the moment. Starting off with balms I have the Burt’s Bees Natural Tinted Lip Balm in Pink Blossom and the Body Shop Honeymania Lip Balm. For glosses I have two NYX Butter Glosses in Eclair and Apple Strudle and a NYX Mega Shine Gloss in Beige. For lipsticks I have my YSL Sheer Candy in #12 and the NYX Round Lipstick in Fig. Honestly, I usually have more because the bottom of my bag is usually covered in an assortment of different glosses and lipsticks but I had done a clean out recently.

How do you store your lipsticks?

Right now I have them in these cute teal containers that I picked up from Target. I currently have some lipsticks holders on their way to me so I am really happy that I will be able to have some on display. It makes it much easier to see what shades you have!

What lipsticks do you use to rock a red lip?

I don’t rock a red lip often, but when I am in a need of a pick me up or a boost of confidence they are great. For my perfect red lip I use Makeup Geek’s Ravishing. It’s a deep red that is just oh so beautiful. It’s matte and can tend to be a bit drying so I always apply some lip balm before hand.

What lip products are you currently lusting after?

I am currently lusting after more Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencils and some OCC Lip Tars, YSL Rouge Pur Couture and Bobbi Brown Rich lipsticks.

I had a ton of fun doing this tag and I hope you enjoyed it! I am tagging Coco from The Beauty Milk, Ashley from Lions Lace Lattes, and Jenn from A Beautiful Zen to do this if they’d like to.

Have a great week lovelies!
