I am a huge fan of gold and bronze shades for the eyes as they are so flattering and versatile. Not only that, but they make my blue eyes stand out which I love. I have quite a few bronze eyeshadows in my collection and wanted to feature a few of them that I really love, some which are high end and some more affordable. Summer is right around the corner, so what better time to pull out these Summer appropriate shades?
I recently rediscovered an old love, The Body Shop Caramel Flirt eyeshadow ($11), when going through my makeup drawers last week. Now while the packaging isn’t anything to swoon over, the product inside is another story. The eyeshadow has a lovely smooth texture and the light bronze shade just gives the perfect amount of colour to the lid without making too bold of a statement. It’s a great option for those who want to keep their eye makeup to a minimum for work or school.
Speaking of making a statement, the Makeup Geek Pigment in Nightlife ($8.99) is a stunning rosy bronze that will do just that. While the product itself may be a bit messy, it’s certainly worth the trouble as soon as you apply it. When this pigment catches the light it can change colour from a dark bronze to a beautiful rose gold and back again. You can apply this all over the lid with a blending brush for a softer look, or apply it on top of a coloured base to really bring the intensity.
MAC’s Woodwinked eyeshadow ($19) is similar to Caramel Flirt, just with more golden copper hues throughout and is a tad darker. It’s definitely on the lighter side of the bronze spectrum if you don’t want to go too dark. This looks beautiful applied to the lid with a matte brown in the crease and I reach for this shadow frequently. It’s a tried and true MAC shade that many beauty lovers are a fan of.
This shade is sure to tempt all of the bronze eyeshadow lovers out there. MAC’s Tempting eyeshadow ($19) is a chocolate bronze with a golden shimmer throughout. See a theme here? It’s a great balance between the two shades and is an extremely easy colour to wear. Like the other shades I’ve mentioned, it too has great pigmentation and blendability and will suit everyone.
Lastly, another Makeup Geek favourite. Pretentious ($6) is a dirty bronze with a golden shimmer and it’s by far my favourite of the bunch. Also, I can’t get over how fitting the name is for this shade! It has an intense colour payoff, fantastic pigmentation and is a one and done eyeshadow shade. Apply it all over the lid and into the crease and you’re done – no fuss. Perfect for a night out, or to darken up the crease and outer corner to create a smokier effect. A must have eyeshadow from Makeup Geek!
