Be A Sassy Lassie with Benefit Cosmetics

Benefit Cosmetics Sassy Lassie Beauty Bestsellers Kit | The Beauty Collective

Benefit Cosmetics is a brand that I have loved for years, and haven’t tried a product from them that I wasn’t happy with. They have a pretty well-rounded makeup line with tons of amazing products and when I came across their Sassy Lassie beauty bestsellers kit I couldn’t say no. In total Benefit fashion, it comes in a very cutesy and stylized tin packaging that most know and love and is true to their style. It’ll look extremely cute on top of your vanity and is a must for any makeup collector (I am a sucker for awesome packaging, I can’t help it). The kit is such a great value at only $49 ($121 suggest retail price) and comes with 4 of their best selling products, two of which are full size. It will make a perfect gift this Christmas!

    The Porefessional

If you are a Benefit Cosmetics fan, then I am sure that you are no stranger to this product. The Porefessional is a silicone based primer that helps fill in and minimize the appearance of pores and texture on the face. It helps create a smooth layer on top of any troublesome areas on the skin so that your face products glide over them easily and don’t emphasize them. I like to use this around my nose where I have larger pores as well as on my chin and it does a fantastic job.

    Roller Lash Mascara

If you have followed my blog for a while then you will know that the They’re Real mascara is my holy grail for everyday wear. I have been wanting to try out Roller Lash for a long time, but I was in such a committed relationship with They’re Real that I just couldn’t stray. I am happy to report that I really like this mascara and I think that’s largely due to the curved brush. It extremely easy to get into the base of your lashes with the curved end, and the bristles are quite spiky which helps keep the clumps at bay and keeps your lashes separated. It’s a very natural mascara, but it can be built up in multiple layers if you’re wanting a more dramatic effect. Benefit is killing the lash game!

    Ka-Brow (Shade #3)

I personally love brow pomades as they are so easy to apply and last such a long time on the brows without budging or smudging. They are especially great if you are wanting to create those super precise Instagram baddie eyebrows that are to die for. One ‘problem’ I can see with this kit is that it only comes with one shade, so it won’t match everybody. Luckily #3 works for me, but it’s something to keep in mind. If you are picking up this kit for yourself and it doesn’t match you, you could always gift it in your sisters, besties or mom’s stocking this year!

    Hoola Bronzer

This was the product that I was the most excited about because I have wanted to try it for the longest time. No really, it’s embarrassing how long it has taken me to finally have this product in my collection. This is a cult favourite bronzer that is adored by so many beauty lovers out there and it is an absolutely adorable size (0.14 oz) that is perfect to throw in your makeup bag. It even comes with a little brush and mirror inside as well which is really convenient. The bronzer is completely matte with a warm undertone to it, so I use it very lightly as I am quite fair. Overall, it’s really nice and I am enjoying it.

I am really impressed with the Sassy Lassie bestsellers kit from Benefit and highly recommend checking it out the next time you are at your local Sephora or shopping online. It’ll be a nice treat for any beauty lover to open up on Christmas day and for such a good price you can’t go wrong!

    Burt’s Bees Face Essentials

Burt's Bees Face Essentials | The Beauty Collective

You know the holidays have officially arrived when brands start bringing out their amazing gift sets, and I absolutely love it. They make great gifts, and stocking stuffers as well, and they come with a great assortment of products to test out – you really can’t go wrong. For the skincare lover on your list this year, the Burt’s Bees Face Essentials* kit is an ideal gift as it comes with 4 full-size products for only $22.99 CAD. What a steal!

    Facial Cleansing Towelettes (99% Natural)

You can never have too many makeup remover wipes as they can really come in handy when you’re in a pinch. These facial wipes are made with white tea and cucumber extracts so they are extremely gentle and hydrating on the skin. A quick swipe with one of these and it will instantly refresh your face while removing any dirt and makeup. They are also safe for use on the eye area.

Soap Bark & Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream (99.9% Natural)

I am personally a really big fan of cream cleansers as I have quite dry and sensitive skin, so this will be a great option for any skin type. It’s very calming and soothing on the skin, not to mention it smells absolutely fantastic. It’s great to use in the mornings especially because it smells and feels very revitalizing on the skin. Not a bad way to wake up in the AM!

Peach & Willow Bark Deep Pore Scrub (99.9% Natural)

If you aren’t a fan of really harsh exfoliating products then this is a great option. This scrub has a lovely creamy base that is very gentle on the skin, and mixed in are finely ground peach stones granules which exfoliate and polish the skin. Naturally, Burt’s Bees products always smell amazing and this is no exception. I have been using this non-stop the past few weeks.

Coconut & Pear Moisturizing Lip Balm (100% Natural)

The last product in this Face Essentials kit if of course, a lip balm. During the colder months, lip balm is essential and the coconut & pear flavour is an absolute treat to apply. It has a nice waxy texture that stays put on the lips and keeps them from getting parched from the dry air.

I highly recommend checking out Burt’s Bees gift sets this year, as there are so many amazing ones to choose from. You are sure to find a set that your friends and family will love (and even yourself as well!). Go ahead and pamper yourself – you deserve it!

Give The Gift Of Pixi Beauty

Pixi Beauty Holiday 2016 Collection | The Beauty Collective

Pixi Beauty Holiday 2016 Collection | The Beauty Collective

I can’t believe that it is already December 1st. The fact that we are already into the last month of the year is so surreal but also very exciting. Now that the holidays are officially here, I have some amazing products from Pixi Beauty* to share with you that they have recently released for the holiday season that I know you’re going to love. Let’s just jump right in.

    Rosy Radiance Palette

This is a perfect gift for those who like to have a large selection of products in one convenient palette. The Rosy Radiance Palette ($28) comes with 3 face shades, 8 eyeshadows, and 3 brow shades that can take your look from day to night. There is a selection of matte as well as shimmer eyeshadows to choose from (the eyebrow shades can be used on the eyes as well) and the face shades all have a lovely satin finish to them and buttery smooth texture. The matte shadows need a little bit of work to build up the intensity as they are a bit on the drier side, but the shimmers are very pigmented. A great little kit overall!

Fairy Dust Favourites – Metallic Warmth

When I set eyes upon these pigment eyeshadows my heart instantly sang with joy. If you love warm colours on the eyes, then this will call to you! The Fairy Dust Favourites in Metallic Warmth ($12) comes with 5 loose eyeshadow pigments all with a stunning metallic finish. There is a light peach, rose gold, cranberry, dark bronze, and black so you can create a multitude of different looks for all of your holiday parties coming up. Pop a matte colour into the crease, and apply one of these metallic shades to the lid and you’re be glistening in no time.

Endless Silky Eye Pen – Opal Overcoat

I am a huge fan of Pixi’s eyeliners, and this one is no exception. Opal Overcoat ($12) is one of the most stunning eyeliner shades that I have in my collection and it looks so beautiful placed on the inner corner as a highlight. If you’re not a fan of white or nude shades on your waterline, you could pop this on instead to add a bit of something extra to your look. The formula is very smooth, takes no time at all to apply and once dry it stays put.

Matte Lustre Lipstick – Classic Red

As the name says, this is a true Classic Red lipstick ($12) that is perfect for the holidays. It has a beautifully creamy formula that is easy to apply and isn’t at all drying. The matte lustre lipsticks have a demi-matte finish, so you will see a bit of sheen once it’s applied which makes your lips look really full. You could pair this with their invisible lip contour liner (which I love!) to keep your lipstick in place, or any other red lip liner of your choice. It also leaves behind a lovely stain to the lips, which helps it wear off more evenly.

So those are some of the new goodies from the Pixi Beauty holiday 2016 collection – aren’t they fab? They have so many amazing kits for the beauty lovers on your list this year, but don’t forget to pick up a few of their products for yourself as well. Giving the gift of beauty has never been easier!

    Evening Pamper Routine

Evening Pamper Routine | The Beauty Collective

Since getting pregnant, I have really been enjoying some well needed pamper time a couple times a week. With so many aches, pains and just generally being uncomfortable all the time, it’s really nice to be able to relax and treat myself. There really is nothing better than spending a night in, so I thought I would share my pamper routine with you because why not? It’s pretty straightforward and nothing too crazy, but I hope you enjoy!

You can’t have an evening of pampering without a lovely hot bath (bubble bars are amazing) or shower, and lately, I have found some really great offerings from Soap & Glory that have made their way into my everyday rotation. To cleanse, I have been loving their Clean On Me Shower Gel because it’s creamy formula makes my skin feel lovely and smooth, not to mention it has an amazingly fresh and invigorating scent. For the face, my go-to cleanser is the Clarins Daily Energizer Cleansing Gel. It’s extremely gentle on my sensitive skin yet still gives my face a clean feeling without feeling tight. Easy, right?

I like to exfoliate daily, and nothing is easier than using a pair of exfoliating mitts. However, if I am feeling particularly fancy I will go in with a coffee body scrub or something similar but sometimes I just like to keep things simple. For the face, the Fresh Sugar Face Polish is my holy grail and I have used it on the regular for almost a year now. You know you love a product when you truly can’t get enough of it. The brown sugar helps remove any dry areas from the face, sadly a regular occurrence during the colder months, yet is still gentle enough that it doesn’t irritate my skin.

After the shower, I follow up with either the L’Occitane Almond Supple Oil or the Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Buttercream which is a new favourite of mine that I picked up recently. It too has a really lovely scent, is quite moisturizing on the skin and it’s truly a treat to use. If my skin isn’t feeling too dry that day, I will moisturize with the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream which is great for sensitive skin and is a great no fuss face cream. If I think I could benefit from a little more hydration, I love to use face masks. One of my favourites is the LUSH Oatifix Fresh Face Mask, but since I am currently out, I have been opting for the Fresh Rose Face Mask which has a really lovely cooling feeling on the skin.

After all of that pampering is done, I like to get into some cozy pajamas, light a candle, and get comfortable on the couch or in bed for a while. Can we just take a second to appreciate how amazing Bath & Body Works holiday candles are? Before getting comfy, I always go ahead make myself a tea or hot chocolate, because come on, there’s nothing like snuggling into your blankets sipping on a hot drink, am I right? Then I will either read my Kindle, watch a series on Netflix or catch up on blogs and Youtube channels while snuggling my two cats. Soon though I’ll be jamming out to Christmas tunes while watching my favourite holiday films – I can’t wait!

What are your favourite pampering products?

The Only Body Oil You’ll Ever Need

    L'Occitane Almond Supple Skin Oil

I honestly don’t know how I haven’t already written about this product on the blog yet, as I have wanted to share my love for it so many times. You know when you find a product that is absolutely amazing and you don’t know how you’ve ever lived without it? This is one of those products for me.

During a shopping trip, I stopped into the L’Occitane store with a friend to take a look at their offerings as I’d never tried any products from them before. Since I have quite a drier skin type, I was recommended the L’Occitane Almond Supple Skin Oil ($52) by the lovely sales assistant and as soon as I tested it I couldn’t believe how amazing it felt on the skin. I was a bit hesitant to pick it up as it’s quite a pricey product, however, you most certainly your money’s worth with 100 ml of product. The entire rest of the shopping trip I was raving about how soft my hands were!

This beautifully rich oil comes in a lovely glass bottle with a spray pump, so it’s easy to apply directly onto the skin or into your hands. You’ll never have to worry about any spilling mishaps, so I really appreciate the addition of the pump. I love how deeply nourishing and hydrating this oil is and I have been using it even more religiously now that I am pregnant and it’s a must-have for the colder months. I can’t even begin to explain how delicious this smells, and it’s sweet but not overwhelming scent, lingers on the skin for hours.

I am a person that absolutely hates the feeling of greasy and oily creams and lotions on my hands, it’s a weird phobia I know, but this sinks into the skin relatively quickly so you’re not left feeling sticky. It’s become a little ritual to apply this right before bed and my fiance even likes to steal this from me to use from time to time as well – cheeky! Once you try this oil out for yourself you’re going to wish that you had of sooner, trust me. I am now a firm lover of L’Occitane products and this will be a forever re-purchase. It truly is the only body oil you’ll ever need, hands down.

What is your holy grail body oil or lotion?

    Beauty Look: Easy Autumnal Eyes

Easy Autumnal Eyes | The Beauty Collective

It seems like it has been forever since I have shared a makeup look and it feels great to be getting back into creating them again. I was inspired to do this look from a new eyeshadow that I picked up from Shopper’s Drug Mart recently and couldn’t wait to play around with it. It’s not new by any means, but it is such a stunning colour and perfect for Autumn. I hope to create some more looks in the near future, so please let me know if you enjoy these posts!

    Easy Autumnal Eyes

I always start off by priming my lids with MAC Painterly Paint Pot. It’s a light pink-beige shade that helps colour correct my lids and of course, keep my eyeshadow in place. We don’t want our look moving around throughout the day, right? After priming, I went in with my first shade which is MAC Haux, a rosy brown, and blended that into my crease. On top of that shade, I went in with a bit of Wedge, a light brown, just to help the blending process.

Now for the star of the show! When I saw this shade on display I couldn’t get over how gorgeous it was and had to have it. I’m sure many of you have seen or heard of this shade before and it’s L’Oreal’s Infallible eyeshadow in 557 Glistening Garnet – my oh my is it pretty! It’s a berry toned pink with a shimmer finish and I applied it with a damp brush all over the lid which really made it shine. These shadows are fantastic and so pigmented!

Then to darken the outer corner of the eye, I applied Makeup Geek’s Corrupt eyeshadow to give the look a bit of depth. I took the same shade and applied that along my the outer part of my lower lashline, and took Glistening Garnet again and applied it to the middle and swept it into the inner part of the eye. For a bit of extra shine, I used MAC Nylon on the inner corner.

Now onto liner! I have been loving the Clinique Pretty Easy Liquid Eyelining Pen for a while now as it has such a precise felt tip which makes creating a cat eye super easy. For the waterline, I went in with the Sephora Waterproof Retractable Eyeliner in Glitter Copper which is seriously gorgeous – you need this! Lastly, I applied my favourite Guerlain mascara, went in with some individual Ardell eyelashes as I am trying to get better at using them, and filled in my brows with Benefit’s Goof Proof Brow Pencil.

It seems like quite a few steps, but it truly didn’t take me long at all to achieve these easy autumnal eyes! You can even choose to skip some of the steps to make the process even simpler.

Would you rock a look like this?
