I have always loved to add a bit of glam to my everyday look, so rocking a smokey eye during the day is nothing out of the ordinary for me. I was playing around with my makeup before heading out one day and tried out this combination of eyeshadows together and was really happy with the result. I love how it’s neutral, so it’s suitable for everyday wear, but has that touch of sultriness to it as well after deepening up the outer crease. I used all Makeup Geek eyeshadows for this look, you guys know how much I love them, and thought I’d share how I achieved it with you in case you’d want to try it out for yourself!
First I went in with Peach Smoothie, which is a warm-toned peach shade, and used that as my transition shade in the crease. This will add that hint of warmth to the look since we’re using mostly cool toned shades. Then I took Latte on a dense blending brush and started to deposit the colour in the outer corner and bringing it inwards into the crease and onto the lid. The point of this look is to have a really seamless and softly blended look, so I just kept building up the colour, blending, and repeating until I was happy.
Then I took Vanilla Bean and packed that onto the lid and switching between it and Latte to get a nice gradient. I then took Shimma Shimma (a must have shade!) on a pencil brush and put that on the inner corner and underneath the brow. You only need a little bit as it’s a very frosty shade. If you’re not a fan of a shimmery eyebrow highlight/inner corner then you can use Vanilla Bean in it’s place. Lastly, I took Bada Bing onto a pointed blending brush and deepened up the outer corner.
Next I lined my top lid with the Pixi Cat Eye Ink, and my top and bottom waterline with a Mary Kay eyeliner. Then I added a few coats of They’re Real Mascara by Benefit onto my top lashes, and Clinique’s Bottom Lash Mascara onto the lower. To finish off the eyes, I applied the Red Cherry lashes in #523 which are really long and wispy. You could skip this step if you want to keep the look more toned down.
And that’s how I achieved this smokey eye look – simple, neutral but still makes a statement. You could even wear this for Valentine’s Day coming up and it would pair up nicely with the Arbonne Smoothed Over Lipsticks I previously blogged about. Would love to hear your feedback on this post as it’s a bit different than usual!
