Recently when going through my base drawer to pick out a concealer to use, I realized that I had never talked about a few of the MAC concealers I own. I thought it might be helpful to do a comparison and talk about the pros and cons of each one in case you were interested in trying some of these yourself.
Studio Finish is a very creamy high coverage concealer. It has SPF 35 and the creamy texture is very build-able and blend-able. I use this on any redness, blemishes or spots that I feel need a bit of extra coverage. I find using a brush to apply it to the face and then blending out with a finger gives the nicest result. I wouldn’t suggest using this under the eyes as it is much too thick and creases quite a bit.
Select Cover-up is a light coverage liquid concealer. It has the least coverage out of the three that I own, and I typically use this on days when I want a brighter under eye area. It has a watery texture and can require a few coats to get decent coverage, hence why I don’t reach for it that much. As with all liquid and cream products, I always set it with a powder and I’ve found that it doesn’t cling and become cakey which is a plus. Since it does have a thinner consistency, you could even take your BeautyBlender and apply this as a foundation if you’re in a pinch.
Pro Longwear is a cult favourite and for good reason. It has great coverage, blends nicely and has an anti-crease technology which makes it ideal for use under the eyes or as an eyeshadow primer. The formula isn’t too thick or thin and melts into the skin and looks very natural. The only qualm I have with this product is the packaging as the pump usually tends to dispense too much product. This will be a forever repurchase for me as I am completely obsessed with it.
