I purchased this Stila palette a little while ago off of Scarlet & Julia (a great beauty site for us Canadians) and am finally getting around to reviewing it for you today! The Stila Eyes Are The Window palettes are not new by any means, but I had them on my wishlist for a while and finally got my hands on one. I like to wear more neutral/natural tones on my eyes during the day so I knew this palette would be the one I would get the most use out of and I certainly have!
The palette I chose is in Soul which has a beautiful rose gold packaging that’s to die for. It’s one of those items that just look amazing sitting on top of your vanity table. The palette comes with 12 eyeshadows that range from light creams to dark browns and even features a matte black as well. I really like that there are a variety of cool and warm toned shades so this palette will work great for any complexion. It also had a mix of matte and shimmer finishes so it’s very easy to mix and match shades and finishes to get your perfect look. You will even find some cult favorite shades in this palette such as Kitten, which works phenomenally as a highlighter as well as an eyeshadow.
Matte shades can always be hit or miss in terms of texture and pigmentation, but I haven’t had any problem with these at all. I noticed that the matte shades aren’t too soft where you get a bunch of fall out and wasted product, but they aren’t too hard where you can’t pick up any pigment. They are somewhere right in the middle and are very easy to build up to the intensity you want. The shimmer shades are very smooth and have fantastic pigmentation and blendability. However, there is one shade in the palette, Character, that really requires a dark base underneath to get the true colour payoff as it just doesn’t perform on it’s own. Character is a darkened brown with red glitters throughout and is definitely a unique shade compared to the rest of the palette. It would look killer in a smokey eye!
There are four different Stila Eyes Are The Window palettes which retail for $60 CAD which is pretty standard for a palette with 12 eyeshadow shades. The packaging of their palettes are beautiful and have a very nice magnetic closure, the pans are very a nicely sized, and the range of colours and finishes are great. The Soul palette is definitely the most universally flattering in my opinion and if you are a fan of neutrals then it will be right up your alley. I wish I had of tried out Stila palettes sooner – they are fantastic.
