Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer | Worth The Hype?

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer

The Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer is a product that is taking the beauty world by storm, even more so now that they have released their Colour Correcting versions. It seems that you either have it in your collection already, or you are trying to get your hands on it which was my case. My shade was always sold out in stores but I finally was able to grab it online and waited anxiously for it to arrive so I could see if it was truly as amazing as everyone said it was.

The shade I grabbed was in Fair Neutral, which is the lightest they offer, for when I am not wearing any self-tanner. I really loved the packaging as well as the applicator as it was very flexible and easy to apply and spread out the product. The first thing I noticed when I applied this concealer for the first time was the smell. It smells just like paint – not exactly a good first impression and not something I had heard anyone mention before.

The smell was something I could live with, however, the coverage and formula was not. The Naked Skin Concealer has a very thick and drying consistency that makes your skin look very cakey and unnatural. I started to apply my makeup after my morning skincare routine and after placing this under my eyes I couldn’t believe how poorly it looked. For being a thicker concealer and marketed as complete coverage, it did nothing to conceal any darkness under my eyes and made the area look extremely dry. I also applied some onto some blemishes and had the same problem even exfoliating and moisturizing as I do every morning.

After hearing so many great things about this concealer and how well it worked for others, this product was sadly a let down for me. I was not a fan of the formula and how it accentuated any lines around the eyes and made anywhere I placed it look very dry. Unfortunately, this concealer just didn’t work for me and I didn’t find that it was worth the hype. I will definitely be sticking with my MAC Prolongwear Concealer.

Have you tried this concealer? How did it work for you?

  • I actually really like this concealer. I use it over a correcting concealer though, because the coverage wasn’t enough. I haven’t tried the MAC one i’ve heard good this about it though. I will check it out :) xx

  • Wow – this is like the first negative review I’ve seen of this concealer! There’s just so much hype about it! I’m still curious to try it though it’s good to hear a differing opinion! :)

I was actually going to write this exact post on my blog! I have a similar opinion as you. I’ve been testing it for around a month now and I find it works well under my eyes where i can really buff it out but if I want to use it to cover blemishes it just looks way too cakey!

  • i have this concealer and I love it! it’s a shame that it didn’t work for you although i do agree that it can be a little drying but I use a creamy corrector underneath my concealer which i think helps!

  • Well that’s a bummer. I had high hopes for it.

  • I had really wanted to try this one, sad that it didn’t work out for you. Thanks for the review!

  • I’m sitting on the fence about this one…I have a lot of concealers at home but I was intrigued by this as it’s on so many blogs! I have super dark eye circles so if this doesn’t do anything, then I guess I’ll hafta skip ti!

  • I’ve heard nothing but good things about this so it’s really interesting to read a different opinion! I’m not a fan of thick and cakey (I don’t think anyone is haha) so I’ll be giving it a miss I think! xx
